Positive Export trends for Italian fashion and leather goods

Exports in the fashion sector, in the first quarter of 2019, have a positive sign: + 7.3%. These are the numbers of Fashion economics trends published by Camera moda, compared with the same period of the previous year. It is thanks to abroad that the entire Italian fashion sector (including leather and leather goods) continues to lead the world and an annual closure is expected at 66.8 billion in revenues.


Istat data confirm that in the period January-June 2019 the first Made In Italy fashion market was Switzerland. Exports to Switzerland increased by 54.6% in the first two quarters of 2019 and reached just under 4 billion euros. Immediately afterwards, there are France (+ 8.2% - 2.9 billion euros) and Germany which, however, is experiencing a period of decline, with a drop of 2.5%.
Good results are evident in the United States (+ 8.9%) which, after a 2018 downward trend, have started to focus on Italian fashion again. Good performance also from the United Kingdom (+ 7.7%), China (+ 6.3%) and Japan (+ 8.4%).



Also the analyzes by the study center of Confindustria Moda, published by Pitti Immagine, confirm this trend. In particular, women's fashion exports (including leather) increased by 6.6% compared to 2018, for a total of 4.4 billion euros. France, Germany, Switzerland and the United States are the leading markets for this trend.

All these data confirm that Made in Italy Fashion is a dynamic, interesting and constantly growing sector. In this business, leather plays a strategic role.
